Project Brief
Transforming Complexity Into Financial Clarity
Nuvama Wealth needed to evolve from an overwhelming legacy platform into something modern, intuitive, and genuinely usable. This project focused on redesigning the experience end-to-end and making it easier for both first-time and experienced investors to understand, act, and feel confident about their money.
My Role & Contribution
Working Across Design, Engineering, and Stakeholders
I worked on the end-to-end redesign of the platform across web and mobile, restructuring information architecture, designing scalable UI components, and simplifying complex financial workflows across 1,000+ screens including login, product exploration, portfolio tracking, and reporting. The redesign resulted in a 37% increase in session duration, a 24% reduction in drop-offs, and 90%+ task success rates in usability validation.
PROBLEM CONTEXT
Navigating Money Felt Harder Than Managing It
The company needed a comprehensive redesign to deliver a seamless, secure, and modern experience that would empower users to plan, invest, and track their financial goals with ease.

the SOLUTION
Simplifying Flows Without Losing the Depth
We led a comprehensive digital redesign focused on clarity, security, and accessibility. We restructured the platform’s architecture so users could navigate flows while strengthening security with user-friendly two-factor authentication that protected sensitive data without adding friction.

The project delivered a comprehensive set of UX and product design outputs, including redesigned information architecture, user flows for key investment journeys, and high-fidelity web and mobile interfaces.
We also developed a scalable design system and UI component library, created prototypes for stakeholder validation, and documented detailed design specifications to support smooth developer handoff.
design System
Building a Scalable Foundation for the Platform
We built a new foundational design system to support the platform’s transformation, starting with core components, refreshed typography, and a simplified color palette. Although a system existed before, we overhauled it to create a modern visual language that feels fresh for new users, yet still familiar to existing clients.
Our approach was intentionally restrained: we focused on a major revamp rather than adding new elements, ensuring the system remained simple & easy to maintain.
We rebuilt the design system using atomic design principles, organizing elements into atoms, molecules, and organisms. This allowed us to deliver a cohesive, contemporary interface that set Nuvama apart while supporting consistent, user-friendly experiences across every module.
Login Journey
Designing a Frictionless First Step
The login flow was redesigned to serve both existing clients and new or prospective users through two journeys:
Client Login and Guest Login.

Clients
Existing Nuvama clients start with a simple login ID screen, then OTP verification. This keeps the interface clean while still meeting strict security needs. Clear affordances like “Forgot login ID?” and straightforward error states help users recover quickly without feeling blocked.

Guest Users
Guest users can use Guest Login with a quick PIN setup and skip non-essential fields. Inline hints explain why certain details are requested, helping reduce drop-offs. The final guest screen highlights the 90-day trial and key features, with an invitation to explore Nuvama with low commitment and high clarity.
The quotes module
All the Insights. All in One Place.
The Quotes module delivers real-time, actionable market data for a wide range of financial products, including mutual funds, ETFs, indices, and derivatives. Each index has a dedicated quotes page showcasing daily changes, historical trends, and sector breakdowns in a clear format.

The design ensures that users can easily track, compare, and act on market opportunities, all from a single, unified interface.
Intuitive charts and key statistics make complex information instantly accessible to both novice and experienced investors, while sector analyses and ETF summaries highlight relevant performance metrics and actionable insights.
Live news and updates
Instant Market Updates. Seamlessly Integrated.
The Live News section was designed to deliver real-time financial updates in a clear, glance-friendly format, supporting users who need to stay informed about fast-moving market events.

Events calendar
Smart Scheduling for a Stress-Free Experience
The Events Calendar is designed to help users efficiently track and manage key financial events related to their investments. The interface opens with a calendar view, where each date is visually annotated with colored dots representing different event types enabling users to identify busy days at a glance.

The calendar also supports proactive planning by showing related documents and links for each event, helping users take action directly from the interface.
Each event offers a “Set Alert” feature, allowing users to customize notifications and never miss important updates. Built-in sorting and filtering options make it easy to manage multiple events at once.
Product Pages
Helping Investors Explore, Compare and Commit
Product pages give users a clear, structured way to explore and compare a wide range of investment options, including NCDs, mutual funds, ETFs, equities, Corporate FDs, and 54EC bonds. Each page surfaces key benefits, performance highlights, and essential metrics, helping users quickly understand what a product offers and whether it fits their goals.

The experience is built around decision-support features like filtering, sorting, side-by-side comparison, ratings, and integrated buy/sell actions, so users can take action without leaving the flow.
Real-time stats, analyst views, and key financial indicators are presented alongside trade functionality and alerts, giving users everything they need to evaluate, act on, and track opportunities within a streamlined interface.
Reports Dashboard
Investing Data Made Actionable
The Reports Dashboard consolidates real-time updates on portfolio holdings, profit & loss, cash balances, and open orders into a single, navigable hub. Users can instantly view overall performance and dive deep into asset-specific details, including mutual funds, equities, bonds, and more, complete with ratings, returns, and risk metrics for each investment.

With all essential data and tools in one place, users can monitor progress, compare asset classes, and confidently refine their investment plans.
Interactive charts and trend visualizations enable investors to analyze allocation, monthly returns, and overall portfolio health. Handy filters and drill-down features help users focus on specific timeframes or assets, while comprehensive analytics reveal actionable insights.
collaboration and Validation
Closing the Loop Between Design and Delivery
Throughout the project, collaboration and validation were baked into the process. I worked closely with stakeholders and developers, sharing prototypes early, stress-testing flows, and refining wireframes based on feedback and technical constraints. We documented clear specs, alternate states, and error scenarios (like incorrect passwords, forgotten IDs, and unavailable data), which made cross-functional alignment easier and developer handoff smoother.
Impact
Quantitative Outcomes & Engagement Metrics
The redesigned app achieved a user testing success rate exceeding 90%, highlighting exceptional satisfaction and validation from our target audience. Launching in July 2023, user data showed a 37% increase in average session duration, with users spending more time engaging with the platform and its features. Also, the drop rate decreased by 24%, demonstrating improved usability and alignment with user needs.
Key Learnings
Lessons and Reflections
This project was a turning point in my growth, pushing me beyond execution into strategy and ownership. In a small, trusted team, I contributed to the redesign of thousands of screens, worked directly with executives and developers, and helped shape product decisions alongside stakeholders.
Balancing user needs with business goals under tight timelines sharpened my ability to prioritize, align teams, and keep a complex ecosystem coherent. It reinforced my ability to operate at a mid–senior level, thinking in systems, advocating for users in business conversations, and delivering design work that drives real product and organizational impact.
